Tina Christie BSc, ND

NATUROPATHIC DOCTOR

Naturopathic Medicine is a complete health care system that utilizes a wide variety of natural healing therapies. Here are the main therapies Dr. Christie uses in her practice and how she applies them:

  • Nutrition is a very important aspect of health. There are many ways in which food can nurture and increase our level of health and by the same token there are many ways in which food can injure and decrease our level of health. In the quest for health, food can be our greatest ally or our worst enemy. Each patient’s current food choices are reviewed in detail and therapeutic changes are made in order to support the healing process and also to foster long-term health.

  • Supplements, which are always kept to a minimum, are used whenever needed to optimally support the health goals of each patient.

  • Botanical Medicine is wonderful to use in that it most often has very reliable action, often comparable to pharmaceutical drugs with a couple major differences: gentle action and few to no side effects when used properly. In fact, the world of herbs is often considered to be Mother Nature’s pharmacy. There are hundreds of herbs for all different conditions and there are also thousands of different herbal combinations. If botanical medicine is a part of a patient’s protocol, the best herb or combination of herbs for each patient is selected.

  • Combination homeopathy is the type of homeopathy mainly used by Dr. Christie. These are special homeopathic medicines where several different remedies have been combined to make one medicine, and each medicine has a specific task that it performs. These remedies not only help to alleviate symptoms, but they also help to strengthen the body and organs, so that once the remedies are discontinued, the benefits remain.

  • Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) encompasses several things: diagnosis, diet and herbal treatment. TCM is mainly used for diagnosis and for fine-tuning a patient’s dietary protocol. TCM is absolutely invaluable in that it is able to explain every symptom that a person might experience. As you can imagine, this gives a great amount of insight into what is going on with an individual’s body and health at a rather deep level.

  • Bioimpedance Analysis (BIA) provides a number of different measurements which are indicative of your overall state of health. By using these numbers as a baseline, your progress toward greater health can be monitored. The BIA is a body fat analyzer and analyzes body fat, lean body mass, fat weight, basal metabolic rate, body mass index, phase angle and hydration status broken down into intra-cellular water versus extra-cellular water.

The BIA test is so much more than body weight – it is about how healthy your cells are overall.
